FAQs

What is a limited edition?

Limited Edition means that there will only ever be a pre-determined number of prints produced of each photograph.
Once the edition sells out, there will never be another reprint of that photograph at that size.
Dean Fine Art Editions come in multiple sizes ranging from 10-200 with limited edition certificate of authenticity (see authenticity).

What is the Essential edition?

What is the Series edition?

The images in this category are part of a series of six connected art works that have the same theme/story.
Individual prints of a series can be ordered but if you purchase 6 of the same series you will get a 20% discount at checkout.

What are artists proof prints (A/P’s)?

These are a few copies outside the edition size, reserved for the artist’s own collection, to be shown in galleries/museums or given to press/media. These editions are regarded as personal to the artist and therefore highly sought after by collectors.

What is a limited edition certificate of authenticity?

In order to testify the authenticity of the artworks and its edition, an official Certificate of Authenticity accompanies every piece of art, including name of the artist, title of the artwork, edition number, year of reproduction, dimensions, support,
the handmade artist’s signature, and finally, The Print Space signature and stamp.

Why does the price of the artwork change over time?

Dean Freeman Images Ltd Editions are produced in a pre-determined edition size. As demand for one of Dean Freeman Art Photographs goes up, so does the price. Collecting early guarantees you are also receiving the most competitive pricing available.

How will the photographs be printed?

A Giclée print is a high quality archival inkjet print. The word Giclée (pronounced ‘Jee-Klay’ with a soft J), comes from the French verb gicler meaning “to squirt, spurt, or spray”.

What paper type are the photographs going to be printed on?

They will be printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® The white cotton artist’s paper, with its characteristic, wonderfully soft feel, boasts a lightly defined felt structure, lending each artwork a three-dimensional appearance and impressive pictorial depth. Combined with the matt premium inkjet coating, this paper produces outstanding prints that feature brilliant colours, deep blacks, striking contrasts and perfect reproduction of detail. This acid- and lignin-free classic meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance, highest archival standards and is specially designed for Fine Art photography. This paper has the ideal combination of structure, print quality and weight.

Where are the prints produced?

In London by The Print Space, leading fine art printers.

Do the prints come with a white border?

Yes. The prints will have white border of the artists choice based on the proportion of the original image and paper size.

Image quality

The images have been taken over a span of 40 years by the artist. Many are analogue negatives or transparencies, taken in a range of analogue films types, which have been drum scanned with great care. On these images you can expect the beautiful nuances of film: some imperfections, a little grain... There are also images taken with modern digital cameras and these have more sharpness and a different clarity, although they still have the artist analogue feel at the heart of the look.

Are there any taxes?
