George Michael, London, 2008

George was the greatest of his generation. Not just as a performer but also as a man. He respected people and he looked after everyone around him. My job as a photographer on tour was to make myself invisible and quietly observe, but I’m proud to have called George a friend and collaborator. This photo, taken on the last night of his 109-date Live25 tour in a cargo elevator up to the main stage at Earls Court.
