Pink Building, Colorado, 1993

The desolation of the off-season ski resort. Empty restaurants and bars. The lifts, still and silent. There’s almost a discomfort to it. Like being in an airport when you’re not going anywhere. And the brutality of the hard lines and geometry of the boxes against the soft mist and mountains drew that feeling into focus, but not without a twist. The yellow door, drawing me in and up the stairs, full of mystery. A story untold.
